2nd violin AVIV QUARTET
Brandon Garbot has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in venues including Weill Recital Hall, Severance Hall, Isabella Stewart Gardner Hall, Rundfunk BerlinBrandenburg, the Kennedy Center, and in Tainan, Taiwan. He has appeared as a soloist with the Oregon Symphony, the Jeerson Symphony, the Kammerorchester Basel, and on tour with the Curtis Chamber Orchestra.
Garbot was previously 2nd principal violin of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra and is Zuzüger of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. He has been a regular substitute with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as well as guest musician with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata Variabile and guest principal of the Camerata Bern and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and guest concertmaster of the Festival Strings Lucerne. As a chamber musician he has performed with Shmuel Ashkenasi, Sol Gabetta, Eszter Haner, Viviane Hagner, Kim Kashkashian, Ivan Monighetti, Thorleif Thedeen and others. He has performed at chamber music festivals such as Music@Menlo, Verbier, Ravinia, Gstaad, Krzyzowa-Music and the Perlman Music Program. In 2022 he was awarded the Music Prize of the Kiefer-Hablitzel and Göhner Foundation in Bern. From 2021 he will be a scholarship holder at the Chamber Music Academy of the Villa Musica Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz.
He is currently studying for his Master's degree with Prof. Rainer Schmidt at Musik-Akademie Basel, Switzerland, and also takes courses with Anton Kernjak. He received his Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music and studied with Ida Kavaan and Arnold Steinhardt. He previously studied with Itzhak Perlman and William Preucil. He has been a member of the Aviv Quartet since autumn 2024.
